My Antarctica Cruise Aboard The World Navigator

Arrival in Buenos Aires

Atlas Ocean Voyages includes a pre-cruise hotel in Buenos Aires at a few various hotels.  Mine was at the Buenos Aires Hilton. The hotel was amazingly beautiful and a block away from the river front with lots of restaurants, shops and sightseeing opportunities within a few blocks. After an awesome time in Buenos Aires, it was time to head to Ushuaia to board the World Navigator and head towards Antarctica for the Exploring the Last Continent March 1-13, 2026 sailing. We had an early morning transfer (3:30AM) from the hotel to the airport, with an included flight to Ushuaia.

Arrival in Ushuaia

Upon arrival in Ushuaia, we were greeted at the airport by our onboard Expedition Team.  They directed us to waiting motor coaches, heading to Tierra del Fuego National Park on the way to the ship, as well as an awesome lunch at a restaurant in Ushuaia.

My Cabin Onboard

I had a balcony cabin onboard on deck 5 (category B2).  I had a queen bed (can be separated into two twin beds), dark wood décor and absolutely stunning.  The balcony was a good size as was the cabin itself.  The bathroom had a shower stall with 3 individual shower heads and attachments.  It was heavenly!

World Navigator

The 98-suite ship itself was the best I’ve ever experienced.  Paula’s Pantry, where you can get fresh juices, specialty coffees, pastries and sandwiches.  All included with our cruise fare.  The dining room was like a specialty restaurant!  It was beautiful and upscale.  The food was beyond amazing as well.  The onboard spa was a great value and very relaxing.  Even the gift shop was flawless.  The Dome (top deck, forward) had a fantastic bar and live music during the evening.  The views were breathtaking! The entire onboard team was amazing. From the dining room staff, to the cabin stewards, to the Expedition Team!

Again, the entire expedition couldn’t have been more perfect!  We had “Drake Lake” (versus “Drake Shake”) both directions and enjoyed the sea days exploring and relaxing onboard this amazing vessel.

Antarctica

Our days were long and filled with activities.  Landings ashore, hikes, kayaking, Zodiac cruises and just relaxing and soaking up the phenomenal and serene environment.

Wildlife!

On my visits to various islands, I saw everything from MANY penguins (chinstrap, gentoo and Adelie), leopard seals, humpback whales, orcas, albatrosses, and more.  The landscape was beyond my wildest dreams.  The parka that Atlas included was more than warm.  We were fortunate to have 6 days of sun with no rain or snow the entire time.

Time to Head Back

Upon arrival back into Ushuaia (we’d arrived early, the evening before), we relaxed onboard, packed and said our goodbyes to our new friends onboard.  We boarded our motor coach to the airport and boarded our included charter flight back to Buenos Aires.  Upon arrival in Buenos Aires, we explored the international airport and had dinner at a restaurant as we waiting for our departing flight back home.

This was a once in a lifetime experience!  We’re so fortunate to have the time we did, meet the people we did and experience what we did. I’ll remember and cherish this expedition and experience always!
